60th anniversary of Place Ste Foy

Place Ste-Foy officially celebrated on November 27, 2018 its 60 years of existence and proceeded on the same day to the grand unveiling of a work of art designed specifically to commemorate this important anniversary. An invitation was sent to some artists from the city of Quebec as part of the program of integration of the arts to architecture and it is the visual arts artist Paryse Martin who was selected to design the project. worth $ 85,000.

The sculptural work entitled LES PARCOURS ONDULATOIRES is installed at the entrance # 1 of Place Ste-Foy, near the Simons store. The pieces, composed mainly of bronze are anchored to the wall and cover part of the ceiling. Combining the real and dreamlike, we can distinguish four trees, each evoking a particular season, all adorned with eccentric birds and plants. A work that invites movement, discovery and creation and which seduced by the analogy between the changing seasons and the fashion it offers.


Recognized for his art and his surrealist sculptures, Paryse Martin's work met the selection criteria in all respects and was in keeping with the symbolic scope required to reaffirm the place occupied by Place Ste-Foy for the last sixty years. physical and symbolic space it will occupy in the future.
